The important thing to remember about IT governance and compliance is that they are ongoing objectives. Best practices must be assimilated into corporate cultures to guarantee efficiency and reliability. Laws and regulations like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) also require organizations to be able to demonstrate their ongoing commitment to compliance. Without this evidence, potential fines are often much more severe.
In studying GDPR best practices, organizations can reduce costs and enhance the effectiveness of compliance. Employees will know how to avoid breaking policy or endangering client data, greatly reducing the likelihood of breaking compliance. This, in turn, can make GDPR compliance far cheaper and more reliable.
